Four Podcasts That Will Improve Your Perspective
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know how podcasts are a popular form of media nowadays. In today's society where everyone is in a rush, it's a good way to keep ourselves informed, inspired, and even entertained. Podcasts are accessible, widely-available, and free! If you're like me, there are times when I just don't feel like listening to any music, so podcasts are a good break to your iTunes/Spotify playlist from time to time.
The good thing about podcasts is that there is always something for everyone. There are just so many different kinds of them out there that you will surely find something that will interest you and suit your needs. They are available in a wide array of topics and subjects all varying in lengths. Unlike audiobooks where you listen to an author narrating, a lot of podcasts involves conversations between two people or more, so in a way, you feel engaged and involved in the scenario. It even makes one a better listener.
I don't like giving my mind idle time because it's an opportunity for anxiety and worries to seep through, so whenever I'm doing anything that doesn't require a lot of brain power like cleaning or doing my makeup or even going through my junk mails, I try to listen to podcast episodes. It makes me learn new things and become enlightened to a lot of ideas so my mind is busy digesting information while my body is busy scrubbing toilets.
In this post I'll be sharing four podcast channels I listen to which I think is influential and transformative for anyone.
The Gary Vee Audio Experience
If you aren’t already obsessed with him, you should be! Gary Vaynerchuk or simply Gary Vee is that one go-to friend whenever you need a wake-up call because he drops truth bombs like no other. You don’t have to be an entrepreneur to appreciate him. His Instagram account is so full of wisdom and I’m sure you’ll always find something you needed to hear. I visit his account whenever I need something that will change my way of thinking, especially when I get stressed over trivial matters. What I like about this podcast is that it’s a combination of a lot of things - taped conferences, interviews, keynote speeches, even Q&A sections during his events. You will really feel as if you’re there as well.
2. Girlboss Radio with Sophia Amoruso
Sophia Amoruso is the OG Girlboss. She originally founded the fashion retailer Nasty Gal and in 2014 wrote her autobiography #Girlboss, which has been adapted into a series with the same name on Netflix (Britt Robinson’s portrayal was brilliant, btw). She is now the founder of Girlboss Media, creating content geared towards women’s personal and professional progress. In her podcast, Sophia features different Girlbosses from different industries and walks of life - from Charlize Theron to Courtney Love to Rebecca Minkoff and many more. The episodes are longer than the usual podcast channels so this is perfect to be playing in the background when you’re doing something that takes quite a while or if you’re in an hour-long commute.
3. Style Your Mind Podcast
I discovered Cara Alwill Leyba through her book Girlcode and I have loved her ever since. Described as a “podcast for women who want to design their thoughts, empower themselves, and build a beautiful life”, Style Your Mind are filled with bite-sized episodes bursting with inspiration and real, important conversations from discovering the power of one’s personal brand to social media and your mental health. Start listening and you’ll find a true girl friend in Cara.
4. New Mindset, Who Dis?
This podcast is by a dude named Case Kenny, the founder of PRSUIT, a daily newsletter “dedicated to helping you become your most badass self”, in which I got the honor of being featured once before. New Mindset, Who Dis? is more fit for the millennials and Get Z, but no BS, no gurus, no fluffs and bluffs, just short but relatable and timely topics to help you set your perspective straight.
Have you listened to any of these podcasts? Do you know more channels that help people gain more insight, positivity and right perspective? Would love to share ideas with you. | B
